D-D combo
My friend Dj from http://fourprototypechairs.blogspot.com/ gave me ripped up sign today. were doing a collab piece and I'll keep you updated on the progress. As of now all I have is a sketch. The sketch above will be featured inside a cat-human coming out of the sign
Skeleton Explosion
Today I got my two pieces from "graduated graffiti" out of the kiln, the skeleton of the second piece exploded but the head is fine so it's all good. I started painting the first piece with acrylic paint, I'm doing a black and white color scheme to make it look like a sketch.

Tried to Talk to Gino
Today I went to talk to Gino about displaying my work in his hair studio,he wasn't there. I was irritated because I was told by his secretary to come in on Monday what she didn't tell me was that he leaves at 12:00, I went at 2:40. I browsed around Orinda looking for other places to possibly display my work. I walked into a bookstore called Canneti's. When I asked Canneti If he wanted to display me work he replied "I think I'll just stick with what I have." So, I left, irritated, and wondering where I would display/sell me art.

Finished
Today I finished number two of "graduated graffiti." When I say finished I do mean finished sculpting, the next step is firing and painting, for which I will use black and white car paint. The car paint will give the sculpture a glossy look without the uncertainty of glaze.

Its a no go
Looks like I won't be exhibiting in Orinda, My art really isn't synonymous with the gallery's style. But I'm not sweating it failure leads to success. I'm looking to exhibit somewhere else in Orinda, Entourage a local hair salon owned by a man named Gino exhibits fantastic art that sells.
Graduated Graffiti (a series)
Today I came close to fifty percent on my new sculpture for Graduated Graffiti. Today After school I will be talking to Allison Mccrady Local art Gallery owner about exhibiting, although I don't know if it will work out because her gallery is comprised almost entirely of french impressionist art. But I will update this blog about that later today. As for now here is my sculpture.

Sketches
Yesterday I did this sketch. Most likely inspired by Matt Furie, who I found on fecalface.com home of a great many bay area artists. Check it out at fecalface.com Yesterday I emailed a gallery in Orinda and am currently waiting for a response back, lets see what happens. My sketch is the one below Matt's.

Professional
As I venture towards the professional world of art I will start to make one essential separation, salary. As a seventeen year old in high school I haven't really sold any art at all, except for a drawing I sold to my dad for $10.00 all of my art has been given away or stored in my portfolio bag. It's time to make a monetary change and find a gallery. Luckily I am blessed to live in the bay area home of a great many artists so hopefully I will be able to find a place to show, but this wont come easily. So I have started a new series in hope of finding a gallery to display it. Here is a picture of my greenware (not fired in the kiln.) This series is really a contemplation of the growing acceptance of street artists in the art world.

My first post
The truth is... I have already begun my journey. The inevitable creation of a portfolio for school pushed me to invent art that I had never dreamed I would be able to produce. I will briefly break up these works into different schema.
The first is stencil. Stencil is a fantastic media to work with because although it is subtractive it can also be additive. The stencils I made in my portfolio were inspired by street artists and friends. Most of which were drawn from photographs then cut out with an exacto knife.
The second is pastel. Pastel was shown to me in an art class at school, but my fascination with it began one day spontaneously in my room. I was inspired by a small amount of paint which I found on my floor.
The third is technical. Boring graphite drawings, no fun.
The fourth is charcoal, which I completed in a class I took in SF.
The fifth is ceramic.
The sixth is word.
